Dear Karlstack readers,
Sorry for the lack of articles over the past 1-2 weeks — I have been working on various writing projects — I will be publishing 10 articles over the next 20 days, so hopefully, soon enough, you will be annoyed that I am sending you too many articles, rather than not enough.
It has been 7 days since my last email:
We had a mixed outcome from that session.
The goods news is that we had 119 people tuning in to participate.
Unfortunately, the event experienced significant throttling.
Firstly, anything related to "Substack" on Twitter faces restrictions, bans, or shadowbans by Elon Musk. This unforeseen limitation (“Substack” was in my space’s title!) inadvertently throttled our space.
Secondly, Twitter itself encountered technical difficulties and went down on the very day we chose to host our inaugural space event.
So, when you consider the throttling plus Twitter going down, 119 listeners tuning in is a pretty good result!
For the upcoming week, we have compiled a list of prepared speakers, including
and , who will be joining us. One big mistake I made the first week is that I was not assertive enough in cutting people off. So this week I will be more assertive in cutting off speakers when necessary to maintain momentum and give others a chance to contribute.Speaking of
, he curates "Journal of Write Wing Righting" on a weekly basis. The most recent issue came out today:He also writes sci-fi:
We have recognized the synergy between his weekly roundup and our weekly Twitter space events, which prompted us to merge them! His extensive weekly roundup will serve as a pipeline of guests for our Twitter spaces moving forward.
With a more structured approach and this new pipeline of guests, we are hoping tonight to more than double last week's participation of 119 listeners.
Thank you for your patience while we work out the kinks with this weekly Twitter space. The goal of this space, remember, is to showcase various independent writers, to support independent writing. If you choose to tune in tonight I hope that you will discover a new writer that you love, and subscribe to their Substack.

Fitting that you hooked up with that other mentaIly ill cringe inceI "John Carter".
However all the crying-sessions in the world with your fellow failed substackers won't help if you continue to write with the skill of a disadvantaged grade schooler. Also, you need to write things that are of interest to more than a couple hundred like-minded low-lQ inceIs if you want to expand your audience.
Do you record these?
